NDOKWA YOUTHS TALKS TOUGH: STEP DOWN THE IPP NOW or SHUT IT DOWN PERMANENTLY.

The youths of Ndokwa Nation through its apex umbrella body the Ndokwa Neku Union (Youth wing) has today issued a communique on the calls for the IPP to be stepped down in Ndokwa Nation.

In a communique signed by the national leadership of the youth wing and 30 other president of its affiliate youth organisation, they made it clear that they are tired of the continuous lackadaisical attitude of both the federal government and the Nigeria Agip Oil Company (N.A.O.C) towards Ndokwa People on this issue of the IPP.

Speaking further to news men in Obiaruku after a National congress meeting of Ndokwa youths, the Spokesman of the youth wing; Comr. Pedro Obi stated clearly that, the good people of Ndokwa Nation are tired of the perpetual darkness and its time to do something drastic about it. He said that our youths are very angry over the way the IPP issue is being handled and should something not be done about it quickly, temper will flare.
Continuing, NNU Youth wing commended Pages Group International for taking a bold initiative to speak actively on the matter, and rounded up by calling on all Ndokwa Youths both at home and in diaspora to be ready, saying the time for us to synergize has come, as it is either they step it down or we shut it down permanently.

BOKO HARAM AGAIN: Suicide bomber kills again in Borno

A suicide bomber detonated an explosive device
strapped on her body near a market in the northeastern Nigerian State of Borno,
killing at least three people, police and civilian vigilante sources said on
Saturday.
No one claimed responsibility for the attack that bore the hallmarks of Islamist
militant group Boko Haram, which has conducted a six-year insurgency to carve
out a caliphate in Nigeria's northeast.
A vigilante source said four people were killed and seven injured when the
explosive went off at a checkpoint, targeting the vigilantes at the entrance of
the Ramirgo market.
Ishiaku Dawa, a resident who helped take victims to the hospital, said the blast
damaged two patrol vehicles and that four bodies were sent to the hospital.
"Three persons including the suicide bomber died on the spot. Corpses and
injured victims evacuated to General hospital," Borno State Police Commissioner
Aderemi Opadokun, who visited the scene, told Reuters in a text message.

BREAKING: Jonah Jang lied as he insist living 104 Billion debt instead of 222Billion

Former governor of Plateau state, Senator Jonah David Jang, has insisted he
left N103.95 billon debt when he vacated office on May 29, 2015.

The handover committee set-up by incumbent Governor Simon Lalong recently
submitted its report, alleging that ex-Gov. Jang lied in his handover notes,
having left a debt burden of over N222bn, and not N103.95bn.

In a statement signed by Ex-Gov. Jang’s former Attorney General, Barr. Olyvıa
Dazyam, the former governor, however, said that either the committee did not
adequately study the hand over notes, or if it did, then deliberate chose to
indulge in misinformation, vendetta and witch-hunt aimed at ridiculing the
immediate past PDP government.

He insisted that the handover notes contain a comprehensive breakdown of
debts and liabilities of N103,956,933,452.96, with N19.7bn as the state’s
indebtedness to commercial banks, adding that the balance is for bond
refinancing, inter-agency loans and liabilities.

FAYOSE: Battle for Ekiti PDP goes to Court

Indications emerged on Saturday that the battle for the control of the Peoples
Democratic Party in Ekiti State may have shifted to the court.
The factional acting chairman, Mr. Tunde Olatunde, has threatened to ask the
court to jail the state chairman, Mr. Idowu Faleye, for alleged contempt of court.
Olatunde; the state party secretary, Tope Aluko; auditor, Tunji Olanrewaju; and
women leader, Busola Oyebode, were expelled on Friday by the State Executive
Committee.
Their expulsion followed a recommendation by the disciplinary committee set up
by the party to look into the alleged anti-party activities levelled against them
by their wards
They had initially been suspended by the party on July 31.
Speaking on Saturday, Olatunde said, “Shortly after we were suspended, we
went to court to challenge our suspension while also asking the court to
restrain the party from taking further decision pending the time the
reconciliation committee to be constituted by the National Working Committee
arrives in Ekiti.
“But out of desperation, they went and trampled on the integrity of the court.
We would have expected that status quo be maintained while awaiting what
court and NWC would say on the matter.
“We are assuring that we will use every legal means to ensure that Faleye and
his collaborators are jailed for contempt. Though we are not ruling out the
reconciliation being proposed by NWC, we are ready to embrace it. But if they
fail, then we will resort to legal means.”
The factional publicity secretary of the party, Mr. Jackson Adebayo, however,
debunked all the allegations.
“Our party is a law abiding organisation, which will continue to respect the rule
of law, that’s why we have followed all known due process in the matter at
hand,” he stated.

Bovi to AY: You are a thief, As Bovi accuses AY of stealng his joke

There seems to be a silent beef brewing between Bovi and AY… Bovi shared
a video from 8 years ago and while I didn’t understand the caption at first,
reading through the comments, it was clear the caption was in reaction to
AY’s skit promoting his event.
In Bovi’s version told 8 years ago, Bovi narrated that, a security man had
to headb**tt his boss’s daughter because the boss had earlier told him to
use his head to prevent the daughter from going out …
In AY’s version, he tells his security man to use his head in a bid to stop
his girlfriend from visiting him during his date with another. When the
security man asks how to prevent her from gaining entry, AY says “Use
your head” When the girl comes, the security man headb*tts her.
Bovi’s fans agreed the skit was a rip off of Bovi’s intellectual property. And
others argue that, though comedians borrow jokes, using it as a skit is
another thing entirely.

SLOW COURT TRIAL, RESPONSIBLE FOR ILLEGAL BUNKERING - NAVY COMMANDER

Commodore Aliyu Sule, Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship (NNS), Delta, has
identified impunity and slow pace of adjudication as factors responsible for the
persistence of illegal bunkering in the Niger Delta region.
Sule stated this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on
Saturday in Warri.
He said the process of trial of arrested suspects for oil theft was slow which
encouraged the perpetrators to easily go back into the illicit act.
According to him, the cases of more than five ships apprehended by his
command over stolen oil since 2005 were yet to be resolved in the courts.
“It takes a longer time for justice to be done in matters of oil theft that is why
the illicit business persists.
“So suspects should be tried almost immediately and jailed,’’ he said.
Sule stressed the need for effective surveillance and speedy trial of oil thieves,
saying these were germane in eradicating illegal bunkering in the region.
He disclosed that his command had adopted a constant and effective
surveillance of the hinterland from both land and air with a view to adequately
comb the terrains.
He noted that the approach was yielding positive result.
“We will continue to go after them until they desist from it,’’ he said.

Incessant JailBreak, Surveillance Camera to the Resue - FG

The Federal Ministry of Interior on Thursday said it would soon install
surveillance cameras in prisons to check cases of jailbreaks in the country.
The ministry’s Permanent Secretary, Alhaji Abubakar Magaji, disclosed this while
fielding questions from State House correspondents after briefing President
Muhammadu Buhari on the activities of the ministry.
He said the cameras would help in monitoring unusual movement of prisoners
or those who might want to cause social discontent in the prisons.

NNPC Reform: PENGASSAN, NUPENG Warns Buhari, As they Plan to Shutdown Economy

Nigeria’s oil workers on Friday faulted the on-going reform in the oil and gas
industry, and vowed to take necessary steps to protect their members’ interest.
The workers, under the aegis of the National Union of Petroleum and Natural
Gas Workers and Petroleum and Natural Gas Senior Staff Association of Nigeria,
described the reform as a cover-up and vindictive actions against their
members.
They, therefore, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to call the newly appointed
Group Managing Director, GMD, of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation,
NNPC, Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu, to order by directing him to stop the on-going
downsizing in the Corporation.
Vowing to give equal response to whatever actions of government they consider
capable of suppressing worker’s interests, the unions suggested that a team
should be set up immediately to review the actions of the NNPC helmsman so
far in the interest of justice, equity and fairness.
Within two weeks of the commencement of the reform, Mr. Kachikwu has
carried out massive restructuring of the management of the corporation.
Apart from the sack and re-composition of the board, Mr. Kachikwu has retired
38 top management staff, reduced the top hierarchy of the corporation from 122
to 83 and the operational directorates from eight to four.
New Group Executive Directors, GEDs, have since been appointed for the new
directorates, along with Group General Managers, GGMs, for the various
divisions, a move he said was to rid the corporation of corruption and make it
more efficient and profitable.

Mr. Kachikwu also hinted that the last had not been heard of the ongoing
restructuring as more heads might still roll as the reform progresses.
However, the oil workers in a joint statement by the President of PENGASSAN,
Francis Johnson, and his counterpart in NUPENG, Igwe Achese, accused the
NNPC management of executing an agenda that did not carry them along.
The statement, which was also signed by their General Secretaries – Bayo
Olowoshile and Joseph Ogbebor respectively – also accused Mr. Kachikwu of
pursuing an agenda contrary to the idea canvassed by President Muhammadu
Buhari.
“While we are fully in support of the fight against corruption, the fight itself
should not be turned against workers whom government swore to protect”, the
oil workers said.
“The ongoing exercise portends a great danger in the oil sector if workers are
meant to bear the brunt of government’s current action where the fight against
corruption is now being used as an act of vindictiveness against workers”.
The on-going exercise, the oil workers said, did not show any attempt to fight
corruption and block leakages, but was “an act of cover up”.
“We dare the new GMD of NNPC, Dr. Ibe Kachikwu to recover the stolen trillions
of Naira in the sector than retiring and sacking of innocent workers. We are
quite sure that the on-going action is not the idea of our dear President
Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR”.
As players in all spheres of the industry’s operation, the unions said all
attempts to have audience with President Buhari to review the on-going reforms
in the NNPC met a brick wall.
Despite being the representatives of organized workers in the industry, the union
leaders claimed all their suggestions on the critical challenges affecting the on-
going reforms were being not being considered by the authorities.
They listed the issues to include the review of industry policy and fiscal
framework; cash call and counterpart funding obligations; stability of the
downstream oil and gas sector; pipeline sabotage and oil theft.
On the NNPC restructuring, the oil workers said the mass sack in the
corporation was sending very wrong signals to their members throughout the
oil and gas sector, particularly about their job security.

Reminding government of its promise to create jobs through the entire strata of
the economy, they noted that the situation in the NNPC was likely to have the
opposite effect.
“We believe people are not the problem, but the structure put in place. If there
are strong structures and institutions, the organization will be a more effective
place,” the unions stated.
“So instead of a blanket sacking of workers, which other organizations are likely
to key into, government reforms should be geared towards putting in place
effective and strong structures and institutions that will meet the numerous
challenges currently bedeviling the oil and gas sector in particular and the
nation in general”.

BARR. LEONARD ANOKA: X-RAYING A POLITICAL STAR FROM THE WEST OF NDOKWA NATION.

Few days ago, precisely on the 29th of May, 2015 at about 10:54pm, i personally made a post on my facebook wall, promising to put down to paper few things about one of our very own; Barr. Leonard Anoka, whom for years has remained committed to the eternal cause of uplifting the downtrodden. A man that lives right the biblical injunction of "It is better to give than to receive", most especially as it involves service to humanity in the overall interest of the less privilege in our society.

Barr. Anoka became a barrister at a relatively young age and ever since then, he has committed his career in fighting against injustice anywhere it may arise as to him, Martin Luther King Jnr. has clearly stated it " An injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere", hence his resolve to always stand with the just at all cost.

Immediately after his call to bar, he established his own law firm, first he went into partnership as a principle partner before standing his own firm known as Anoka and Associates. From the foregoing, it can be clearly stated that Barr. Anoka is an entrepreneur who has created jobs for Deltans and Nigerians in general. For those that knows how law profession operates, Barr. Anoka didn't just create jobs but has equally provided a platform for young Nigerians, who are in the wig and gown trade to manifest themselves.
It should be noted that, one of the major setback to most young school leavers is the unavailability of platform to learn and showcase themselves positively to the outside world, this Barr. Anoka has provided to the growth of his profession.

As a politician, Barr. Anoka has been consistent in advocating for good governance for the Nigerian people. He became the Secretary to Ndokwa West Local Government Area Transition committee at a very young age. As the Secretary of the Council, the young Barr. Anoka, brought his administrative acumen to bear in his capacity as the chief scribe of the council. Yours truly was then a young secondary school student, but was opportune to be following the political activities at that time. Across the ten federal wards of the council, his name (Barr. Anoka) was synonymous to empowerment and efficiency. This can be adduced to the effective way he discharged his duty to the admiration of the entire council Area, both the civil servants within the lifespan of the transition period.

Barr. Anoka is a loyal and committed party man, whom has remained with the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) even in it's darkest days in Delta State. My distinguished readers, you all we bear me witness, that the most trying period of PDP in Delta State was during the 2011 re-run between PDP and DPP and equally the second term bid of ex- Gov. Uduaghan also in 2011. During this period, majority of PDP bigwigs left the party, the ones that didn't live the party, were massively involved in anti-party activities.
It was what was to be known as the DPP (Èdù nmór/Pineapple) Tsunami 2011 in Delta State.
It took only committed party fellows, who can be trusted and were very loyal to the party come what may, that stood their ground and defended the party (PDP). These men were not come and chop or rather food is ready politician. But they are principled politicians/technocrats who are ready to lay their all in the interest of a cause they believe in.

... Yes we have fewer or not at all politicians with ideological leaning, but wait i can assure you, in BARR. LEONARD ANOKA we all can find a true one.
At the hit of this DPP/OGBORU Tsunami, Barr. Anoka was among the very few, who stood with the PDP in Ndokwa West. He was liken to a lone star in Ogume during this dark period in the interest of a cause/party he so much believe in. As a grassroot mobilizer, he galvanised all interest groups to repel the Tsunami in Ogume and Ndokwa West in general.

Barr. Anoka is a man to be relied upon, having demonstrated this rare gesture during his party most trying period.

He has continued in his empowerment scheme in given succour to the youths and the elderly in our communities.
As a youth that he is, he remain a jolly good fellow, easy going and interacts freely with both the young and old, not minding your social status.

Barr. "LEO" as he is fondly called by his admirers is a gentleman par excellence and all we are saying is that "we pray this time around, this golden fish (Barr. Anoka) must not pass Ndokwa West and Deltans by.

Viva!!!

NANS REJECTS THE REVERSAL OF THE UPGRADED FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES OF EDUCATION TO COLLEGES OF EDUCATION BY PRESIDENT BUHARI'S ADMINISTRATION.

NATIONAL ASSOCIATION OF NIGERIAN STUDENTS (NANS)
ZONE B
AUGUST 13, 2015
PRESS STATEMENT

NANS REJECTS THE REVERSAL OF THE UPGRADED FEDERAL UNIVERSITIES OF EDUCATION TO COLLEGES OF EDUCATION BY PRESIDENT BUHARI'S ADMINISTRATION.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Zone B rejects in its entirety the planned reversal to status quo ante the recently upgraded Colleges of Education to Federal University of Education in the federation. The said reversal being planned by President Buhari's administration is a retrogressive educational policy in this 21st century and should be condemned by all sane mind in this country.

It should be noted that the purpose of the establishment of the colleges of education in Nigeria is to train serious minded fellow to be efficient in teaching and in a way that is morally acceptable in the society at large.

However, there are limitations to the level where the colleges of education graduates can teach. It is a known fact that the highest level NCE graduates can teach is Junior secondary schools and this has greatly affected the education sector as evident by the invasion of misfit into the teaching profession. This is however, one of the problems of professionalization of teaching. It is expected of an individual who have obtained his bachelor degree in education to be inducted into the Teachers Registration council of Nigeria(TRCN), and the faculties of education in our conventional universities cannot adequately carter for the number of qualified and professional teachers that our country needs.

This limitation no doubt explains the reason, while 95% of today NCE graduates tends to apply for degree programmes through direct entry inorder to avoid the discrimination associated with NCE holders, to some school of thought, it is a waste of scarce resources, which explains while many people run away from colleges of education.

Also reversal of the upgrade will greatly affect those who already applied for admission into these institutions with the mindset of pursuing a degree programme. This will no doubt further contribute to the congestion of our conventional universities by admission seekers instead of decongesting same.
As an educational based universities, their primary mandate is to produce qualified teachers whom are lacking in our society, Therefore, NANS has no option but rejects this draconian policy in all ramification before it is too late, as we rather call for the upgrade of more colleges to universities of education in Nigeria.

NANS has equally identified that most colleges of Education are running degree programmes in affiliation with universities, the question now is, who is deceiving who?

We hereby call on this administration to shelve any of such plan to reverse the upgrade of these colleges in the overall interest of the Nigerian masses and the Educational Sector or be ready to face a mass action by the Nigerian Students.

Signed for the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone B:
Pedro Obi
