The All Progressives Congress in Ekiti Central Senatorial District on Sundayexpressed regrets for sending Senator Babafemi Ojudu and Hon. Michael Bamidele to the National Assembly during the 2011 general election.
Addressing party faithful at Aramoko Ekiti in Irepodun/Ifelodun Local Government Area of the state, the party’s chairman in the district, Chief George Ojo, regretted that the duo allegedly abandoned the party after their elections and “turned our party into an orphan”.
Ojudu is representing the Ekiti Central Senatorial District in the Upper Chamber of the National Assembly, while Bamidele, who contested with Ojudu in the inconclusive primaries for the party’s ticket to the Senate, was later pacified with the House of Representatives ticket to represent the Ekiti Central Federal Constituency 1 in the assembly.
Bamidele later dumped the party for the Labour Party when he was denied the opportunity to contest the APC gubernatorial ticket with former Governor Kayode Fayemi.
Ojo, who recalled the pains the party experienced during the feud between Bamidele and Ojudu over the party’s senatorial ticket, said it was unfortunate that the duo could behave in such a manner.
He asked: “After Babafemi Ojudu won the election, what have you seen?”.
The party members present at the meeting chorused: “Nothing.”
On Bamidele, Ojo said: “Michael Opeyemi Bamidele, what happened after electing him to represent us, he abandoned us and dumped our party for the Labour Party.
“They have turned our senatorial district to an orphan.
“I pray that may God collect all our dues that are still with them.
“After electing them, we don’t feel their impact.
“It is unfortunate.”
Both Ojudu and Bamidele are not seeking re-election.
Ojo added: “We urge those that are carrying the party’s ticket not to toe their line, but they should do well because one good term deserves another.
“We can’t pray for those who run away with our dues.” He said.
