NANS TO FASHOLA: REDUCE APTITUDE TEST FEE OR...!

NANS in a press release signed by the Public Relations Officer of NANS Zone D (South West), called for the immefiate reversal of the current aptitude test fee introduced by Lagos State Government across the State.

The full statement read thus:

COST OF APTITUDE TEST INTO JUNIOR SECONDARY SCHOOL MUST NOT BE HIGHER THAN COST OF UTME/POST UTME TESTS COMBINED

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, Southwest Nigeria Zone, frowns at the exorbitant fee being proposed by the Lagos State Government for Computer Based Aptitude test into Junior Secondary Schools in the state.

The proposed N10,000 test fee is enough to pay for UTME and POST UTME test fees combined. Thus,  charging it for admission into Junior Secondary School to us is irrational and absurd - as such we are asking for immediate reversal of the decision.

Furthermore, we want to urge His Excellency, the Governor of Lagos State, Mr. Babatunde Raji Fashola, the Lagos State Commisioner for Education, the Commissioner of Police and the state Director of the SSS to promptly look into the security situation in Epe Local Government which is the location of our campuses, Michael Otedola College of Primary Education and Faculty of Engineering of the Lagos State University.

The spate of killing of students and unrefrained activities of cultists in the Epe municipality is alarming and worrisome. We want an alacritous and brisk intervention into this ugly situation before it degenerates into a similitude of the activities of the Boko Haram sect in the Northeastern part of the country.

This statement will be bias and bigoted not to acknowledge and commend the Lagos State Government for its transformational reform in the educational sector of the state. Her flagship educational programs are laudable. Kudos to the governor and his team.

We also want the Independent National Electoral Commission to ensure distribution of the Permanent Voters' Cards to ensure that all eligible citizens of Nigeria exercise their franchise and suffrage in the next elections.

We also urge all Nigerians to defend the unity of our great nation by refraining from activities capable of tearing the nation apart.

Yours in the quest for a greater Nigeria..

Aluta continua ..Victoria ascerta
